vs Lynx

After 28 years in the top flight of English volleyball, Malory are facing the prospect of being dumped from the Super 8s.  Following this weekend's shock loss to London rivals, Lynx, the Eagles need 3 wins from their final 3 preliminary matches to guarantee a Super8 spot next year.

Saturday's match started ominously with Lynx quickly building a 4 point buffer which Malory were unable to overcome.  Eagles captain Luciano Pinter was subdued by the gargantuan block of 6ft 7in Taylor Wilson while piercing serving and attacks notched up steady points for the East Londoners.

Malory coach Jefferson Williams motivated his men to turn the tables in set two and sustain this performance for a set three win.  Set four saw a start for the young Jermaine Miles but the early Eagles lead was extinguished by a five point serving run from the Lynx setter, Modestas Strockis, which set the base for his team to take set 4.

Thrust reluctantly into a fifth set lottery, Malory were brushed aside by the resurgent Lynx.

Set scores; 21-25, 25-20, 25-22, 21-25, 11-15.

This weekend, the Eagles play host to fellow Super8 strugglers Solent in the National Cup.
